MSSpeech Forum is a forum dedicated to users of Microsoft's speech recognition software. There are six discussion areas related to different aspects and topics of interest to users. Although there is already a Microsoft speech users group as part of Yahoo groups, we decided to create this forum because it will be easier to follow discussion threads. You will only receive e-mail replies to the topics you find of interest.

Most of the discussion areas are for receiving answers to basic questions about the Windows™ Speech Recognition software. There are also discussion areas for microphones and sound cards as well as a special area for people with disabilities to discuss how to accomplish various computer tasks. You will find the macro users discussion is for high level users involved in programming scripts to accomplish various tasks. For example, a script could be written to give you the weather report at any time you request it with just a simple verbal command. Even if you are a new user, we encourage you to look at this area and make requests. There are likely to be skilled programmers who will take up the challenge to create a script to accomplish what you require.

Each of the forum discussion areas is moderated by Speech Recognition professionals were highly advanced amateurs. For example, the general discussion area is moderated by Rob Chambers of Microsoft's Speech Recognition workgroup. The disabilites section is moderated by Jerry Ferro who has been using Microsoft speech to accomplish tasks that would normally be beyond him with his disability.

The forum is hosted by www.mymsspeech.com a subsidiary of eMicrophones, Inc. owned by Marty Markoe. Marty Markoe has almost 15 years experience with speech recognition software. He originally started out as an IBM business partner for Speech Recognition. In the summer of 2006 he was invited out to Redmond Washington to be given an overview of the soon-to-be released Windows™ Speech Recognition in the Microsoft Vista operating system.
eMicrophones, Inc. recently developed the WSR Toolkit. This toolkit adds much of the functionality of other Speech Recognition programs. Applets include the ability to transcribe from a wave file, create text macros, and improve your acoustic and language models by adding words and documents.

We view this forum as a work in progress. Your comments will be appreciated and if at all possible accomodated.

Sincerely,
Marty Markoe, eMicrophones, Inc.

Marty,

Please correct the following sentence that appears in your Welcome text:

Thanks for catching that. It should be, "adds much...." So much for using SR and not reading what you dictated.

Wish I could send you a snip of the menu I get when I click the speech rec icon in the taskbar because it doesn't show Security/Security Level/Low although this comes in your WSR Readme file.  What can I do from here?  Thanks.

In the future you should post questions in the section related to the issue. In this case the appropriate section is Macros and Macro Development.

It sounds to me as if you have not installed the Microsoft SpeechMacros software. The instructions that came with the download of the WSRToolkit say:
1. Download the SpeechMacros program from the Microsoft web site (there will be a pop up with the URL address if you have not done this):
http://download.speechmacros.com (Start by clicking Continue to validate)

Once you have installed SpeechMacros there will be a blue icon in the system tray (lower right of your screen) that looks like:

When you roll ove it, it will say Windows Speech Recognition Macros. This is where you will Right-click on the Windows Speech Recognition Macros icon, Click 'Security' then 'Set security Level'. Choose 'Low'.
