I had this working very well. Then is started working with commands only. It will open programs all the time but, won't put text into docs or emails. Has anyone else had this issue? What is the fix? Karl

Karl,
What program are you trying to dictate into?
I find when I leave the microphone on or sleeping for long periods, text sometimes does not appear in a text box of a forum like this. I must exit the speech bar and restart it to get text to appear.

Hi Marty, It happens in any program. I say "open word" and it opens word. I start speaking and it does not type anything. The control panel shows "What is This?" on anything but command words. Hope this helps. Karl

Let us know if closing the Speech Bar and re-opening it helps? Not a great solution but I will stick with it until Windows 7 comes out or else create a new user profile.

How can I remove the program from the computer and then, reinstall it?

WSR is tightly integrated into the Vista operating system and the soon to be released Windows 7.
What kind of problems are you having that you wish to take drastic action?

I cannot use the program as dictation does not type anything in any document, email, etc. It only recognizes commands like change to this or that, open this or that. Once open, curser in the proper location, begin speaking and nothing. Like this reply box. I have the curser in here but cannot get the text here unless I key it on! The small box that appears saying the speech recognition starting and then says sleeping. I say "Start Listening."It starts and says "Listening." When I speak, it comes on saying: "What was that?" to all my words. I can give it a command and it works on that.
So, I figure that if I remove and reinstall the software, it will work like it first did. Karl

Karl,
I don't think Marty was suggesting that you remove WSR from your system, but that you just exit out of the program and start it again. Actually, you should probably exit out of the WSR Macros program first, then exit out of WSR. Wait 5 seconds, and then start up WSR and WSR Macros again. Hopefully, this will restore your ability to dictate.
On my system, I have WSR set to start automatically when I turn on my computer (Is your computer set the same way?), and I have noticed on occasion that WSR sometimes doesn't work properly at first. My wild guess conclusion is that the automatic startup is causing the problem, but I don't really know for sure. But shutting down the two programs, waiting a moment, and restarting them seems to fix the problem.

I don't see Macros running. I have Un-Checked the following:
Play audible feedback Run at Startup
The following is permanently checked: Dictation Topic = Narritive
I have restarted and still have the same condition outlined above.

Under Options (right click the microphone on the Speech Bar) make sure you have a checkmark next to Enable dictation everywhere.
If that does not do the trick in after restarting speech recognition, I suggest you create a new user profile.

You are welcome. Which one did it, the new profile or Enable dictation everywhere?

That's odd. Dictation should work in Microsoft Word, even with the "Enable dictation everywhere" option turned off, shouldn't it?
