There are likely two reasons for the problem you are having, words being placed on screen unintentionally.
1. The microphone you are using has no noise canceling capability and is picking up stray sounds as words. WSR requires not only the highest quality audio input for good accuracy, the microphone must be truly noise canceling to eliminate background noises from distorting the audio signal or causing stray words. Many microphones claim to be noise canceling, but in fact are not. The ones you find on our website have been tested and the ones with good noise canceling state this fact on the web pages.

2. The other problem is that WSR has poor control of the audio sound subsystem built into Windows. We noticed this problem over two years ago when the audio level was constantly resetting itself. If the audio pickup level is too sensitive, even with a good noise canceling microphone, stray words will appear unintentionally. When we updated our very popular WSRToolkit from version one to version two, we included the Tune Microphone feature. This allows you to not only set the volume control but also the SNR (signal to noise ratio). Once this has been set, as long as you do not run the Microsoft microphone setup, the setting you have determined to be best will stay set.
