I'm looking at a WSR application that would involve outdoor use, sometimes in busy city streets.

The operator would be using a Tablet PC running Windows 7 and WSR (with the WSR Toolkit).

What microphones would anyone recommend for outdoor city use?

The microphone must be highly noise canceling. This means it needs to be very near the mouth when used in noisy environments.

The best noise canceling microphone for WSR is the http://www.emicrophones.com/p-1013-sennheiser-md431-ii-choose-a-cable.aspx - Sennheiser MD431II . This is not a small microphone and must be handheld. Although it has a good internal windscreen, you should add a windscreen.

The best headset is the http://www.emicrophones.com/p-1111-sennheiser-me3-usb-headset.aspx - Sennheiser ME3 with USB sound pod. This headset goes behind the head.

Make sure to watch the videos on the web pages.
