Hi,
whenever I try to start the window speech recognition, get this message ' speech recognition could not start because the language configuration is not supported. The recognizer language must match the language of the user interface. Please change the recognizer language in the speech recognition control panel under advanced options.'

My speech recognition engine is set to "Microsoft speech recognizer 8.0 for English-US ". However when I try to change the display language it only gives me the option of installing/uninstalling new languages but no already existing languages. The language format is set to English-US and location to India.
But operating system is Windows 7 and sound device is intel IDT high definition audio.

any help would be appreciated. Thank you

You may have found a Windows 7 bug. Try setting your location to the US or UK (if you have a UK accent and lexicon) to see if this corrects the problem.

Do you have access to any other computers with Windows 7? If so, see if the problem exists on these? Just trying to eliminate whether the problem is a setting or configuration problem with your computer or is it a Windows 7 bug?
