Hi I recently ran into something that I'm not sure how to get going.  Is it possible to make macros that will:

1) Drag while holding the right mouse button (i.e. via mark command)?

2) Click and hold the left mouse button, shake the cursor, and then let go?

Both of these are things you need to do in Tabletop Simulator (the first is for changing camera views, the second is for rolling dice), and I can't do them with Windows Speech Recognition so I was hoping maybe a macro would solve it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
Tom

I am not familiar with Tabletop Simulator. These tasks would be a lot easier with WSR if there are keyboard shortcuts or menu items in the program that you could say instead.

For the first one, you might be able to do this with the mousegrid. (Read about the mousegrid on the web if this is unfamiliar.)

1. Say "mousegrid."

2. Say numbers until the center is over the area you want to right click.

3. Say "mark."

4. Say numbers again until the center is over the area you want to drag to.

5. Say "Right click."

For the second one (dice roll), it might work if you did the same steps as above, except in step 5, just say "click."

Wow thanks Russ!  All this time (five years or so) and never knew you could right click with mouse grid.  :-)

Russ, I just tried it but it doesn't right click and drag with mouse grid.  Is there maybe a key that should be pressed first to change the left click to right?

Sorry it didn't work. When I tried saying the sequence of steps in several programs, I got different behavior. Some apps right-clicked at the first spot, which is what I think you want. For example, with no windows visible and the pointer just hovering over the desktop background, the sequence seems to right-click at the first spot. The menu with desktop options comes up near the first spot. (Adobe Reader seems to behave this way too.)

But in a WordPad window, the right-click seems to occur at the second spot. Same with Internet Explorer and FireFox.

The bottom line is right-clicking and dragging is not really a common thing. For the one instance I can think of (right-clicking and dragging a file icon in Windows Explorer to alternately move/copy/create a shortcut), there are several alternate methods using menu items, keyboard shortcuts, and the mouse. (The right-click technique is the "power user" option for people who know it's there, not likely the most common method.)

In Tabletop Simulator, are there menu items for these options that you could access with Alt key shortcuts? (When you press Alt, underlined letters should appear in menus to indicate characters you can press to select menu items with the keyboard. If you don't see these underlines, you may need to go into:

Control Panel\Ease of Access\Ease of Access Center\Make the keyboard easier to use

...and check the box called "Underline keyboard shortcuts and access keys."

The reason I ask is because (as you probably already know) if the task can be done entirely with the keyboard, then it will most certainly be possible to create a speech macro to do the same thing.

If no keyboard shortcuts exist for these features in Tabletop Simulator, you might want to ask the developer to consider adding them. Developers are often interested in helping users by adding features, particularly when it helps people with disabilities to use their software more easily.

Basically the feature for right clicking and dragging is to change camera angles of the table so I don't think there are any shortcuts.  :-(
