Unable to use speech recognition in Wikipedia

I noticed that every time I visit a Wikipedia page speech recognition becomes confused and is unable to understand both requests to click on links and a request to show numbers.  Further, visiting these pages (I have tried more than one) seem to cause a spike in CPU workload- the CPU fan begins to work faster, and my CPU monitor registers an increase in temperature.
I theorise that something about Wikipedia's markup makes it unable to map the page correctly.  Has anyone else encountered this?

Here is one thing for you to check. Right click the microphone icon in the Speech Bar, then click on Options, then make sure Enable dictation everywhere is checked.
 
If that still does not work, it means that the page you are trying to work with is not TSF enabled. TSF stands for text services framework and is a standard on which WSR working in programs is based.

The option you mentioned is checked, can you clarify the last part for me?  Is TSF related to HTML, web standards, or any other Internet related coding?  And why would a major site like Wikipedia would not be TSF enabled when many other less high profile sites seem to work fine?

Many Wikipedia pages contain thousands of links, and as you scroll down or up through a page, WSR is scanning the links to keep up with what you might want to click on. It's frantically trying to stay ahead of what you might say so it can react properly and click a link for you when you say a link.

You can tell when the scanning process is going on because the lower-right corner of the WSR feedback area shows a blue circle; when the blue circle disappears, the scanning process is complete, and you can say one of the links that you want.

Try this: open up one of the Wikipedia pages that is giving you problems, and pay attention to the WSR feedback area while you're doing this. Did you see the blue circle in the lower right corner of the WSR window? Say "page down" to move down the page, and watch how the blue circle appears again to indicate that WSR is scanning the links. Then the blue circle disappears again.

You need to wait until this scanning process is complete before you can click a link. If you start saying a link any sooner, all you'll get is the dreaded orange "What was that?" indication.

By the way, this scanning process is supposed to be significantly faster in Windows 7.

So try a little patience for the scanning process to complete before saying a link. Does this help? If not, could you provide some example Wikipedia pages that are giving you problems?

Show numbers works perfectly for me on the linked page.  The numbers flash and I can choose any one of them.  It takes maybe a second for the command to be activated and the link to be transferred.  Something else must be going on in your system.

This page works fine for me too, although I've definitely experienced other web pages that didn't highlight all the links. If you run into this problem, first cancel any highlighted numbers that are appearing by saying "cancel," and then say "refresh speech commands" to cause a re-scanning of the links. Then try saying the link name or saying "show numbers" again.

"Still doesn't work" isn't a lot of detail to go on. What does happen when you say "Show Numbers?"

OK, System Resources start getting eaten up. Tell us, what kind of computer in terms of CPU, RAM and operating system? What other applications are running at the same time?
 
Have you tried the same Wikipedia pages with WSR on a different computer? If so does it work for you on a different computer?
