Does the WSR Macros program work in Metro? I was under the impression that it didn't, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if it did! (I'm getting a new computer with Windows 8 next week.)

Our operating system is Windows 8.1 now. For the most part we use the Classic Shell which mimics Windows 7. However in the Metro interface all tiles are easily activated without macros. The windows that are open can be closed in via voice command without a macro. You can also switch applications by voice. Marty |

Russ, you may also like to know that the Show Numbers command, as well as the Mouse Grid feature work perfectly with Metro. You can open apps by saying their names, and close them with the standard "close that". In contrast, while Dragon does have its own mouse grid, it only works on the desktop. Dragon is sorely lacking a show numbers command.

Thanks Sixweels. I will give WSR a try in Metro. I sure hope Microsoft eventually supports WSR Macros there too. I would like to be able to make macros for more advanced Metro apps like the Mail program, -Russ |

Guys,
In the future, please start a new topic as this is in Microphones and should be in General or Macros. You should be able to create macros for the Mail Program. Anything that can use keyboard keystrokes should work. If you have specific issues about macros for the Mail program, post them. Our programmer Nathaniel use the Metro interface exclusively with macros and or keystrokes. Marty |

Sorry about that, Marty, and thanks for moving us. ;-) I think you can go right ahead and start making those macros, Russ. I have lots of text macros that work perfectly fine in the mail app. Unfortunately for me, I am having that issue where trying to make corrections within an e-mail chooses the wrong words, but I expect that to be fixed eventually. |

Sixwheels or Marty, what do you put in the <appIsInForeground> statement when you write a macro specifically for the Windows 8.1 Mail app? I'm planning to try a do commands like "move current message to XYZ folder," but I can't figure out what the official app name is for it. Thanks! -Russ |

Microsoft's Windows 8/8.1 Mail app is really just a unifier for all your mail apps (i.e. Outlook, GMAIL, Yahoo Mail etc.). I found Keyboard Shortcuts for the Mail App at: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/mail-keyboard-shortcuts Ctrl+M is used to move to a different folder. Marty |
