I have been using WSR with Win Vista 64 bit with 4 gigs of RAM.  I am really trying to give this software a chance before I go to DNS.  I've done the trainings and I have a good microphone (Phillips Speechmike 6274) which seems to work fine and I correct each time it makes a mistake.  I feel the problems I am experiencing are inbedded in the software itself.  I will try to keep these recurrent problems brief.  WSR keeps making the same mistake even after several corrections.  For example, in the Rainbow passage it continually dictates "birth" for "Earth" and "scout" for "sky".  Secondly, it will often move one line when I state "new paragraph", although this is not consistent.  Lastly, it often does not recongnize Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 as the language even though it is chosen in the speech properties.

I really want to like this software and I'm hoping that there may be a fix or a patch to correct these isssues.  Any input appreciated.

I too have some words which seem to be unable to be trained. One of them is the word and (I said add not and). Other words that were difficult to train I used different strategies. Among these:
  1. Correcting the misrecongnized word in the context of surrounding words, not just correcting the word itself.
  2. Using Train From Text, Add To Dictionary and Add From File in the WSRToolkit

I got frustrated with the same problem and simply used the WSRToolkit to create a simple command macro named Next Paragraph. Here is the code that is generated by the toolkit:

<speechMacros>
<!-- ************************** -->
<!-- ***** next paragraph ***** -->
<!-- ************************** -->
<command priority="99">
   <appIsInForeground processName="outlook.exe"/>
   <listenFor>next paragraph</listenFor>
   <sendKeys>{ENTER}{ENTER}</sendKeys>
</command>
</speechMacros>
