Marty,
For someone interested in trying out Windows Speech Recognition, but doesn't have a lot of money to spend, what microphone do you recommend? Is there a decent microphone to be had for under (or around) $50.00? Thanks.

I consider the VXI TalkPro Xpress the best microphone by for the money. It is highly accurate, moderately noise canceling, and most people find it quite comfortable. In addition, it has a two year warranty because it is so very durable.
Be advised, the very best microphone without a good sound card will not be a good performer. If you're unsure of your sound card, just make a Windows Sound Recorder recording. On playback, this should be no obvious electronic noise. If you hear any obvious electronic noise, you were a candidate for a USB Sound pod.
