I have been successfully using Win 7 WSR at the office on my laptop. My office setup includes a Plantronics microphone and Zoom switch combination that allows me to use the microphone for both my Cisco phone and WSR (through a USB connection). The combination has been working well for me. Now, I'd like to put together a second simple setup that is more portable and can be used with my laptop when I'm not at the office. I'm thinking of buying an analog microphone headset that will plug directly into the microphone port on my laptop. Here's what I would like to know:
Should I create a separate profile for the second microphone since the sound quality will likely be different from my office setup? If so, how do I tell WSR which one I want to use? Do I have to retrain for the second microphone? Do I have to explicitly choose my microphone each time I switch between the two devices? What is the most efficient way to do this? Do I have to be concerned about one configuration stomping on the other one? If so, how can I prevent that from happening? The last thing that I want to do is mess up my functioning office setup. Any other useful tips? Thanks in advance for any feedback. |
