Subject: Installer fails

Hi. I'm installing on Windows Vista Business. The computer is not networked. When I run the WSRToolkit installer, it fails with the message "An error occured while downloading a required file. You may retry downloading the required file or or cancel setup." How can I determine what needs to be downloaded so that I can download it from a machine that is connected to the network, and copy it over? Help!!!

Hi Mike, I'm sorry you're having installation problems... The installation routine checks to see if you have the Microsoft .NET 3.5 (or greater) framework installed, if not, it will attempt to download and install it for you. Hi, I just purchased the toolkit and am having installation difficulties as well. I have the Windows Vista 64-bit program. It's strange because I have the WSR Toolkit icon on my desktop and it appears to load okay but I receive error messages whenever I try to create a command macro. So I believe I have to trust the error message that I received and consider the possibility that the application was not installed properly. Moreover, I tried to install the NET 3.5 framework and I get an unspecified Setup Error there as well. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you, Chuck |

It sounds as if you did not install WSRMacros? When you start the WSRToolkit does the WSRMacros program load? The icon for it is in the lower right Taskbar and looks like this:
 When you roll the mouse pointer over the icon it says, Microsoft Speech Recognition Macros.
If it is not there, see the instructions sent with License Key it says:
"Make sure to follow the directions to download the Microsoft Speech Macros program WSRMacros.msi at:
http://tinyurl.com/SpeechMacros - http://tinyurl.com/SpeechMacros "

Thank you, Marty, for your quick response.
Actually, I do have WSRMacros installed and have successfully created macros using that program before I installed the Toolkit, though my computer would only recognize those which were signed (maybe a clue?). To be sure, I made sure the WSRMacro program was running when I just tried to create another macro, with the results below.
After receiving the message "Done," I receive the error message: "An XML error occurred while loading the file "southwest.WSRMac," the latter representing the voice command intended to activate the keypress "END." In its "Details," section, it further states: "Content element for 'command' is incomplete ..."

Right click the Speech Macros icon in lower right Taskbar. Then click Security. Then click Set Security and set it to Low.

Wow! The program works beautifully. Upon closer examination, I can see two things were going on preventing me from creating macros. The first does indeed involve the signing of security certificates. When I used the Windows macro program, my computer would not recognize a command macro unless it was signed. With your Toolkit, the macro does not have to be signed, thus allowing me to set the security level to low. That is a great step forward. Something else I was not doing, which may be of value to your readers, is that I was not clicking the "Add" button before creating the macro. Obviously, a very important step that I was missing.
